Mamadou è un giovane cittadino della Costa d’Avorio che si è mette in viaggio “senza valido motivo”: non c’è una guerra nel suo Paese, non è perseguitato, ha addirittura da mangiare tutti i giorni, tre volte al giorno. Quella di Mamadou è una storia sfrontata e arrogante, che ci racconta di un ragazzo che ha semplicemente pensato di avere diritto a un’occasione nella vita per inseguire un sogno. Una storia lunga, che attraversa il deserto e che comincia con l’incontro con il trafficante più in gamba di tutta l’Africa occidentale: Sita la venditrice. Il progetto s’ispira a quello della Human Library nata in Danimarca, nella ferma convinzione che raccontarsi sia il modo migliore per avvicinarsi, e che ogni storia di coraggio ha diritto di essere raccontata e diventare parte della memoria collettiva. A personal story like those that happen on a train, in a waiting room, or while waiting in line at the post office—whenever someone is willing to listen and discovers just how different others’ lives are from our own, yet how similar our emotions, needs, and instincts are. Mamadou is a young man from the Ivory Coast who sets out on a journey “for no good reason.” There is no war in his country, he is not being persecuted, and he even eats three meals a day. Mamadou’s story is bold and brash. It tells of a young man who believed he deserved a chance at life and the opportunity to pursue his dreams. It’s a long story that crosses the desert and begins with an encounter with the most resourceful trafficker in all of West Africa: Sita the saleswoman. This project is inspired by the Human Library concept that originated in Denmark. It is based on the firm belief that sharing one’s story is the best way to connect with others and that every courageous story deserves to be told and become part of the collective memory. |
